Mr. Willie Calvin Woods, 49, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Woods was born February 12, 1967 in New Haven, CT a son of Doris Ann Woods of Rocky Mount, NC and the late Willie Calvin Woods.

Calvin, as he was known by all, "Caldonia", the loving nick name given to him by his mother and "Fro" from friends, was educated in the New Haven public school system where he attended Lee High School and Wilbur Cross High School before obtaining his GED. He was raised and grew up in the "Hill" area of New Haven. From early on, Calvin developed the love for fishing which he continued on into his adult years. He rarely drove a car but you were guaranteed to see him around town on his beloved scooter. "Kool Cal", as his friends called him was a master chess player. He beat everyone he played and loved to challenge anyone who was willing to accept it. By trade Calvin was a carpenter for the last 30 years who also worked in construction and was a member of Local #24. Quiet but a jokester he was. He would have you laughing with his amazing sense of humor. He always thought he was the funniest comedian ever. He was a loving person who loved his family and loved spending time with them. More than anything, Calvin loved his beautiful daughters. They were his world. He was always happy with a kind word for anyone he came into contact with. Calvin, Kool Cal, a son father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend will truly be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Besides his mother Ann as she is known to all, he leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Journey Kali and Davona Calvin Woods both of New Haven, one sister, Demetra Barr of New Haven, three brothers, Demetrice, Terrance, and Tyrell Woods all of New Haven, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends including special loving friend, Tashima Tarver of New Haven. He was predeceased by one daughter, Callesha Woods.
