Mr. William Harris 98, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Summit of Plantsville, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 14, 1918 in Columbia, SC a son to the late Eddie and Anna (Whalley) Harris.

William was educated in the South Carolina public school system. He then married his long time fiancé Mattie Moore in 1939. From this union they had their only daughter Enda (Harris) Lindsay. In 1943 he joined the United States Army where he served during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1944. After discharging from the Army he moved with his family to Philadelphia, PA and then to Waterbury where he resided until his passing. While living in Waterbury he worked as a crane operator for Chase Brass and Copper for many years until his retirement. After retirement Mr. Harris joined the Board of Director of NOW INC. and Warner Gardens. Mr. Harris helped many to find jobs and homes while on the Board for NOW INC. Mr. Harris was well respected by all of those who knew him.

Besides his daughter Edna Lindsay he leaves to cherish his memory two grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He was pre deceased by two brothers John Harris, Edward Harris, four sisters Cordia Moore, Mary Jane Harris, Edna Mae Harris, Anna Mae Warrick and also his ex-wife Mattie (Moore) (Harris) Minnis. The heavenly family is complete everyone is home now.
