Mrs. Dorothy (Kee) Woodson, 88, formerly of Bishop Street, departed this life on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. William Woodson.

Mrs. Woodson was born July 22, 1928 in Hobbsville, NC a daughter to the late Stephen and Alverta (Eason) Kee.

Dorothy was educated in the Gates County NC public school system and lived her younger years until 1960 when she relocated to Waterbury where she resided until her passing. In her early years she worked at Uniroyal and then Airpax for many years until her retirement. She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as an usher in her earlier years. She was a faithful member who attended church until her health began to fail. Dorothy loved to cook for her family and loved to make cakes for all occasions. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved to play BINGO. She attended the Mt. Olive AME Zion Church Senior Center where she was recognized for her knitting and quilt making. Dorothy was a kind and compassionate person who loved her family and was known to tell you exactly what was on her mind. As the family matriarch, she will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two nieces; Dora Kee of Prospect, CT, Kay Lawson-Demery of Durham, NC, two nephews; Alonza Kee and Robert Kee both of Waterbury, eight great nieces, nine great nephews, several great-great nieces, great-great nephews, great great-great nieces, great-great great nephews, cousins, including special cousin, Pearl Eason, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Curtis Eason, her only sibling Alonza "Monk" Kee, nieces, Mary Jean (Kee) Burke, Ruby (Kee) Eason, nephews, James A. Kee, Eugene Kee, William J. Kee, great nieces, Dorothy Lorraine (Kee) Riddick, Carla (Kee) Hoffler.
