Mrs. Nellie Williams 98, of 24 Union Street, departed this life on Friday December 2, 2016 at Autumn Lake Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Henry Williams.

Mrs. Williams was born June 5, 1918 in Bainbridge, GA a daughter to the late Henry and Lessie (Rambo) Grimsley.

From elementary school to high school, Nellie was educated in the Bainbridge public school system and was a graduate of Hutto High School. After graduating high school, Nellie worked as a clerical worker for a local company in Bainbridge, GA. Nellie united in holy matrimony to Edward Williams, and into this union Lessie Pearl Williams her only child was born. She was an active member of Nelson Chapel AME Church in Bainbridge, GA, where she attended Sunday school and was a member of the senior choir, served as a missionary and was also a member of the #502 American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Williams relocated to Waterbury in 2009 where she resided until her passing. Nellie was the matriarch of the family. Her most cherished times were when the family was all together. Her family and the love she had for them was absolutely paramount. She was a loving, caring, outgoing woman who loved life. Mrs. Williams was a spiritual woman who loved the lord and would always have words of encouragement for everyone. Her favorite pastime was watching her favorite TV game shows, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. Her kind spirit and genuine love will be missed by all that knew her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved 6 grandchildren; George A. Coles, Jr., Perry Coles, Gregory (Martha) Coles, Gary Coles, Mark (Phylisha) Coles, and Darlene (Kevin) Anderson, 17 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Lessie Pearl (Willams) Coles, granddaughter Wanda Coles.
