Mrs. Marie Evelyn (Nesbitt-Mott) Blocker, 95, of Abbott Terrace, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, VITAS, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Avery Blocker Jr.

She was born September 7, 1922 in Eldridge, SC a daughter, one of nine children to the late Rev. John H. and Mathilda (Nesbitt) Mott.

Marie came to Waterbury as a youngster with her family. She was educated in the Waterbury public school system where she graduated from Wilby High School. She continued her education at Post College where she received a business degree. In her early years she did clerical work at the Waterbury YWCA. She had also been employed by Uniroyal and then retiring from Timex/Bendex after many years of service. She then became a full time homemaker caring for her family. Marie was a lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church where she was a member of the adult choir. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She loved to sing and play the piano in her free time. Marie loved the Lord. She was a spiritual, patient woman who was always willing to listen and lend a helping hand. Although very quiet, she was a strong woman who could be a little stubborn, she loved her family unconditionally. Her loving spirit and kind heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters; Shirley Blocker of Georgetown, SC and Truscilla "DeDe" Blocker of Waterbury, eight grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren, one great great grand child, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was predeceased by son Gerald Avery and all of her eight siblings.
