Ms. Marie Helene "Nuchie" Baptiste, 62 of Waterbury, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital.

Ms. Baptiste was born in Waterbury, CT, on January 30, 1958, a daughter to the late Peter and Adeline (Rogers) Baptiste.

"Nuchie" was educated in the Waterbury Public School System graduating from Crosby High School, where she also played basketball. After graduation, she became employed by various agencies in the healthcare field where worked until her illness prevented it. She was also a homemaker, spending time with her family whom she loved more than anything, especially her son Lance. She loved to dance, and had a passion for children. "Nuchie" was so funny and would do anything to make you laugh. To know her was to love her.

She leaves to cherish her memories her one and only son; Lance Baptiste and his fiancé Karima, three brothers; John "Juju" Baptiste, Richard "Dicky" Baptiste, and James "Donald" Baptiste, three sisters; Helen "Pearl" Byrd, Deborah A. Baptiste, and Gloria "Chuffy" Velez, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, a special friend from childhood; Butney and her son Guana, and her friend; Babe and her son Cyrus.

She was predeceased by two brothers; Peter "Junior" Baptiste, and Robert "Bobby" Baptist, two sisters; Dolores Silva and Patricia "Patty" Baptiste.

Marie's family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital Doctors, nurses, and all the beautiful and kind staff there; Davita Dialysis, Suzanne and the entire kind and caring staff; Waterbury gardens who treated Marie like family. Our family will never forget the care and compassion you all have shown and special thank you to all the new friends Marie made there.
