Ms. Lucy (Perkins) Rogers 83 of Rowan Street, Danbury passed away peacefully Monday, January 23, 2017 at Bethel Health Care surrounded by her family and loved ones. Ms. Rogers was born on March 18, 1933 in Greenville, N.C., daughter of the late Clinton and Elvira (Worthington) Perkins.

At a very early age Lucy relocated to Brooklyn, NY where she graduated from Central Needle Thread School, N.Y. After graduating she relocated to Danbury, CT where she lived until her passing. In her early years, Lucy was employed at Davis & Geck for 40 years until her retirement in 1993. Later, she would come out of retirement to work, for meals on wheels for another 15 years. Lucy had great love for her family and friends. One of her passions was traveling. Every time there was a family reunion, Lucy was there with her sidekick "Glo". Lucy was also a great cook that was known for her sweet candy yams. She was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church in Danbury for numerous years where she served on the usher board until her illness forced her to step down. She was also a charter member of I.B.P.O.E of W, Jennie Bryant Temple #1187 where she held many of seats, most recently the door keeper. Lucy leaves to cherish her fond memories, her two loving daughters; Rita Lammie and Ruby Anderson, both of Danbury, five grandchildren; Tyrone, Chris, Dontrelle (Ethel), Natasha and Yvette, eight great-grand children, seven great-great-grand children, her only aunt; Annie Lee Perkins of Danbury, two nieces Tammy Bradley, Lisa (Freddie) Tyson, three nephews; Melvin Bradley, William Bradley and Billy Bradley, all of Greenville, NC. whom she was introduced to several years ago and it has been a great family affair ever since, a bevy of cousins including special cousin, Bertha Andrews, extended family and friends including her best friend of over 40 years, Gloristine Perkins. Lucy was predeceased by her lovely aunt, Leathea Perkins sister, Erma (Perkins) Todd and half-sister Mamie Bradley. Not a day goes by when you are not loved, missed by all and held in our hearts forever. We love you Lucy.
