Mrs. Gloria Ernestine (Knight) Patterson, 83, of Hartlely Drive, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Boisy Patterson Jr.

Gloria was born July 20, 1934 in Waterbury, CT a daughter to the late Frazier and Geneva (Dildy) Knight.

Mrs. Patterson was educated in the Waterbury public school system where she graduated from Leavenworth High School class of 1952. On June 9, 1956 she married her late husband Mr. Boisy Patterson Jr. Gloria had been employed by Benrus Watch Factory, the Sara Glove Factory, Department of Development Services prior to being employed by the State of CT Southbury Training School where she retired after 30 years of service. Gloria was a member of Long Hill Bible Church, a member of the original First Aide Unit at Zion Baptist Church and the Mr. & Mrs. Club of Waterbury. Gloria enjoyed reading, writing, puzzle books, crocheting, quilting and watching classic movies. She was a very funny fiercely strong working woman, wife, mother and friend. Her family was paramount. She inspired honesty, commitment and an unwavering work ethic on to her children and those that knew her well.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son Tyrone (Dawn) Patterson, two daughters Denise and Deirdre Patterson, two grandsons; Marcus and Terrell Patterson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
