George Holley Jr., was born December 18, 1949 in Sunsbury, North Carolina a son to the late George and Ella (Figgs) Holley Sr. He was affectionately referred to as "Mess" or "Messie".

At the age of four, George and his family relocated to Waterbury, Connecticut where he would continue his education in the Waterbury public schools system. He attended Crosby High School and served in the United States Army before receiving an honorable discharge. George worked for various companies in the Waterbury area including Sherwood Packaging, New Departure and the Phillsons Company. He continued his education at Naugatuck Valley Community College. George was an avid football and basketball fan. His favorite teams were the Giants, Knicks and the Bulls. He enjoyed watching Westerns, attending family gatherings and listening to music. He was a great father and a very caring giving and loving man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

George took his rest on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden.

George leaves to cherish his memory a wife Laverne (Jones) Holley of Illinois, one son; Shawn (Tracey) Watson of Maryland, three daughters; Terri Barfield, Tamara Barfield both of Waterbury and Charlotte Fisher of Illinois, two step children; Tyrone Fisher and Veronica Fisher both of Illinois, six grandchildren; Martin, Tiana, Traiana, Curtis, Patrick and Landon, five great grandchildren; two sisters; Virginia Holley and Dorothy Holley both of Waterbury and his longtime companion Marjorie Melvin of Waterbury whom he resided with and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
