Mrs. Essie (Pullman) Petty, 64, of West Main Street passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her home after a courageous 52 year fight against diabetes. She was the wife of Mr. Alan Petty.

Essie was born December 4, 1952 in Tyner NC a daughter to the late Clarence Revelle and Vivian Pulliam.

She was educated in the NC public school system before relocating to Waterbury in 1976 where she resided until her passing. For many years she enjoyed a career in child care and most recently Sugar Plum Day Care in Naugatuck. Essie was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Plymouth for over 24 years where she was a former member of the choir and also a former usher. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Her favorite phrase was always "If you put God first, there is no way evil can follow you". All of us who mourn her will keep her words in our hearts forever. Essie loved reading the Bible and singing gospel songs. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. She was a strong courageous woman with a strong faith in God.

Besides her husband Alan, she is survived by her only son, Christopher Petty of Waterbury, six sisters; Rita Pulliam, Ella Pulliam both of CT, Wanda Stancil, Patricia James, Joyce Pulliam all of VA, Francine Rossamondo of NC, two brothers; James Pulliam and Cecil Pulliam both of CT, one uncle; Lester Revelle, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and friends.
