Mr. Edward Mack, Jr., 71, of Danbury, CT., was called to his eternal rest on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Dumont Center in New Rochelle, NY after a long illness. He was the husband of Alicia (Young) Mack.

Edward was born September 22, 1948, in Centreville, AL, a son to the late Edward and Dollie (Dixon) Mack Sr.

"Pop-Pop", as he was affectionately known as, attended Bibb County Training School. He was an avid baseball player and played for Bibb County Bulldogs and The Centreville Dragons, and also enjoyed bowling, playing basketball, and shooting pool. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church in Centreville, AL. Following his older sister, Edna, he relocated to Stamford, CT, in 1966. He was a long-time employee of Clairol, Inc. (Proctor & Gamble) for 41 years and retired in 2006. While on a blind date, he met the love of his life, Alicia Young. They united in holy matrimony on January 20, 1973; and to their union two children were born, Latricia and Edward III. The family moved to Danbury, CT, in 1977.

Edward loved the Lord and was a faithful and dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, Danbury, CT. He served in the following ministries: Trustee, Food Bank Truck, Bread Distribution, Greeter, and Senior Ministry. Edward was very friendly and he never met a stranger. He was well known for charity involvement, honest and thorough advice to anyone who asked, expertise in car care, and brilliant conversations.

Edward loved living in New England and adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed being around family and friends, reading, praying, and watching the History & Smithsonian Channels. He would make you laugh with his quick wit and funny jokes. His love for travel took him and Alicia on many road trips across the country. "Pop-Pop" shared his love of CRAFTMAN tools with his grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them how to become "Mr. & Ms. Fix-its". He treasured his daily conversations with his beloved daughter, as well as his collection of Hess trucks that he received from her every November. Edward relished his spirited conversations in the garage with his son while keeping their cars in tip top shape. He will always be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, compassion for others, and love of family. Not to mention his fried turkeys, fried fish, and BBQ ribs. He will be missed by all that loved and knew him.

Besides his loving wife of 47 years, he leaves to cherish his memory his two children; Latricia (Martin) Kokuma of Spring, TX and Edward (Andrea) Mack III, two grandsons; Devin Mack and Edward Mack IV, one granddaughter; Aysis Mack, three sisters; Edna Owens of Madison, AL, Brenda Mack of Huntsville, AL, and Janice (Joe) Warner of Toney, AL, four brothers; Leon Mack of Hickory Creek, TX, Kenneth (Althea) Mack of Spanish Fort, AL, Don (Priscilla) Mack Sr. of Centreville, AL, and Michael Mack of Centreville, AL; two sisters-in-law; Kathleen Mack of Brent, AL, Gloria Dorsey of Stamford, CT, five brothers-in-law; Larry Walters of Stamford, CT, John Young of Boston, MA, William (Florence) Young of Waterbury, CT, Robert (Phyllis) Young, Sr. of Mobile, AL, Jesse "Frank" (Eleanor) Moye, Sr. of Hamden, CT, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Randy Mack, brothers-in-law, Otha Owens Sr., Preston Dorsey and sister-in-law, Marquita Mack.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
