Ms. Artie Mae Harris, 77, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2017, At Abbott Terrace Health Care Center.

Ms. Harris was born June 12, 1939 in Tuskegee, Alabama a daughter to Artie Glen and Artie Lee (Stafford) Harris.

She relocated to Connecticut in early 1950s. Artie enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and spending time with her family. She worked at the Salvation Army for many years and devoted most of her time and energy as a caregiver to family, friends, and anyone in need. She spent her life surrounded by family and friends who she touched and helped throughout their lives. She lived a very memorable life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Artie Mae Harris is survived by one brother; Eddie Harris of Tuskegee, Alabama, one sister; Beatrice of Bridgeport, CT, one daughter; Mary Nichols of Waterbury, one son in law; Jimmy Nichols of Waterbury, four grandchildren; Rolenzo Minnifield, Kaishawda Minnifield-Maxwell, Tina Minnified, Jimmy Nichols Jr., eight great grandchildren; Shakema Byrd, Shaquita Minnifield, Shatavia Gatling, Shavey Gatling, Hector Diaz, Jose Diaz, Alex Diaz, Eveliz Diaz; one great great grandchild Elyza Byrd, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by one daughter; Rosie Mae Phillips, three brothers; Artie Glen Jr., Elijah Harris, James Harris, one sister; Willie Bee Butler, one nephew Louis Butler.
