Mrs. Alvia Marie Phelmetta, 79, of New Haven, CT passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Yale New Health Care Grimes Center after a long illness. She was the widow of George Phelmatta.

Mrs. Phelmetta was born September 11, 1936 in Bridgeport, CT a daughter to te late Roy and Lucille (Williams) Davis.

She was educated in the Bridgeport public school system. She married and relocated to New Haven where she resided until her passing. She was known and loved for her free spirit and smile that would light up any room. Her motherly love gave her a chance to meet and touch so many people and so many hearts. She had a passion for music and she loved to dance. She was a member of Kingdom Minded International Deliverance Ministries. A special thanks to her nurses aide, Mrs. Denise Robinson, who would bring her to church services which led to her becoming a member. As a faithful member, she served on the Mother's Board and was also an honorary church mother faithfully for 2 years. She loved to hear the praise team which she called the church choir. She was loved dearly by all who had the opportunity to meet her. She will be dearly missed.

Alvia leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Tina, Juanita, Carolyn Phelmetta, Sharlise Paige, four sons; Roger (Wanda) Woolfolk, Antioni Paige, Vincent (Rachel) Paige and Alexander Howard, a host of grand children, great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She also leaves her special grand daughter, Tara Phelmetta, and grandson Craig Hines. She was predeceased by four sons, William Davis, Ronald Phelmetta, Vincent Phelmetta, Douglas Phelmetta and one daughter, Chyna Paige.
