Ms. Alicia Rivera, 76, of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at St Mary's Hospital. She was the wife and life partner of Jose Ulise Mandia Acosta.

Ms. Rivera was born June 16, 1944, in Mayaguez, PR, a daughter to the late Monico Rivera and Maria Cruz. She was one of five children.

"Mama", as she was also known as, was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her capacity for unconditional love was limitless and the world was a better place with her in it. She often referred to her loved ones as "Mi Vida". To be called this by "Mama" was to know that you were loved beyond comprehension and measure. For over more than half a century, Alicia and Jose created magic, while swaying to the sounds of her favorite salsa songs. They occasionally, argued lovingly, over her beloved Yankees, even though they were rooting for the same team. Their love for each other was the kind that was written in books. Her home was filled with the smells of cooked food, the flowers that she loved to keep around and of course, the items that she carefully selected during her most enjoyable shopping trips. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

Besides her husband of 62 years, Jose, she leaves to cherish her memories two children; Alec Mandia and Elizabeth Mandia both of Waterbury, three grandsons; Sammy J. Carattini, Elliott Bermudez, and Jonathan M. Bermudez, five great children, Samantha, Joshua, Jinora, Eliza, and Myala Cancion.
