Ms. Abigail Mejil, 82, of Donahue Street, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Ms. Mejil was born in Guanica, PR, on May 12, 1937, a daughter to the late Raul and Ester (Cuevas) Mejil.

"Mamita" as she was affectionately called by her friends and family, was educated in the Public School system in Puerto Rico and later relocated to Brooklyn NY. "Coche" as she was also known as, was an avid Yankee fan and loved playing BINGO and enjoyed the simple things in life. She was one of 16 children and yet her greatest joy came from the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The loving heart and love that she had for all of them will never be replaced. She will be greatly missed by everyone that loved and knew her.

She is survived by her four children; Herman R. (Rosalina) Soto of Florida, Edgardo (Barbara) Soto, Zaida Cruz, and Victor Cuevas all of Connecticut, six siblings; Isaac Cuevas-Mejil, Melin Cuevas Mejil, Osvaldo Cuevas Mejil all of CT, Tirsa Cuevas-Mejil of PR, Milka Rodriguez Cuevas Mejil both of PR, and Providencia Cuevas Mejil of FL, 12 grandchildren; Barbara Soto, Alexander Soto, Edgardo Soto Jr., Rodney Soto, Ricardo Soto, Louis Soto Jr., Jason Soto, Victor Cuevas Jr., Christian Cuevas, Brendon Cuevas, Jovan Cruz, and Devon Cruz, and 17 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Luis Soto Sr. and eight of her siblings.
