Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

The Franks family would like to thank you for your support during this difficult time.

Ms. Helen Marie Franks, 82, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 8th, 2020, at home, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Washington DC, on September 6, 1937, a daughter to the late Ray Franks and Lena (Murrill) Franks.

Ms. Franks attended and graduated from Spingarn High School in Washington DC before moving to Waterbury in 1957. She had various jobs including BEAerospace in Litchfield, CT, New Opportunities of Waterbury as a daycare assistant, and Timex Corp for over 30 years before retiring. She was kind and generous with a beautiful smile. Helen was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother that was a hard worker and was always there for her family as well as others. She enjoyed the company of her dearest friends and they enjoyed her wit and classy style, but most of all, her loyalty. She enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, attending Bingo, going out with her friends, spending time with family, shopping, and attending church at Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury, where she was a long time member.

She is survived by her three children to cherish her memories, Linda (Jones) Knight of Waterbury, Mark A. Jones of Virginia, and Lena N. Jones of Waterbury CT., 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, a sister, Daisy (Franks) Carr of Maryland, longtime friend Nathaniel Jones of Waterbury and a host of cousins in NC, MD, DC and CT, nieces, nephews and friends from CT. She will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Pre-deceased by her sisters Virginia Smith (Franks), Venus Carter (Franks) and Rosa Kelley.
